Which blackout(s) did you experience?
1965 (Great Northeast Blackout)

I was a freshman engineering student at Syracuse University "attending" the Orange Bar at 5 Pm after classes for my first legal drink as Nov 9 was my 18th birthday. After the first beer the lights went out.... I've often wondered whether it was a sign. I graduated in 1969 and 1970 with duel degrees in Sociology and Industrial Engineering. I'm a PE in private practice. My firm engineers and owns hydroelectric generating facilities.

Did either blackout seem significant or shocking at the time?
Neither was significant

Did the blackout(s) have any larger meaning in your mind?
No

Did the blackout(s) cause any profound crisis?
No

How did the blackout(s) affect your daily reliance on electricity?
Became less reliant
