Other (please specify)
In your own words, tell the story of your experience in the blackout(s). Try to recall specific events and the people, places, and things involved; also include more general reactions, images adn last impressions?
I was at work ( computer tech ) when all our power went out for about 20 sec then our back up generators came on. I then finished my shift and I was on my way home of course all the traffic lights were out , there was no police officers or cicvilians directing traffic but everyone was really cool driving , they were all using the street lights as 4 way stops , however 4-5 cars at a time , I was very surprised. When I got home we decide that we were going to have a bbq . so we first got that ready , and then we spent a nice quiet night with the kids just talking about the use of power and how much we take it for granted. we enjoyed the peaceful ness that it brought with just the candles going. but as soon as the lights came on back to the computer and ps2 life was back to normal
But it was a real great time just spending it in peace and candle light
Why did the blackouts happen, in your opinion?
with all the air conditioners going and the power being used it just over loaded the curcuit
What is your opinion regarding the general causes of power failures (blackouts)?
I think that people should be more conservative and don't use the power if they don't need it,
I don't understand why some one has to turn on a light to put on their shoes at the front door, I say just open up the door and use the light of the sun
Did either blackout seem significant or shocking at the time?
