I was 11 years old and watching television in my suburban New Jersey home in my bedroom, when BAM...nothing but static...Seeing as I lived in Union, NJ, we had power, but not TV signal, as it was being transmitted from New York City atop the World Trade Center...Writing this from Los Angeles, on August 14, 2003 as the city is once again plunged into darkness, only this time, there isn't a World Trade Center....

Did either blackout seem significant or shocking at the time?
1977 only

Why did you consider the blackout(s) to be significant or insignificant?
