Which blackout(s) did you experience?
1977 (New York City Blackout)

In your own words, tell the story of your experience in the blackout(s). Try to recall specific events and the people, places, and things involved; also include more general reactions, images adn last impressions?
I was at Shea Stadium watching a Met game when the lights went out. Some of the players were signing autographs along

the field seats where we were sitting. I remember Lenny

Randal carrying a bat. As time passed and the lights did

not come on I asked a security guard what was going on.

He said "they are not announcing it yet but the whole city

is out". We left the stadium as soon as we heard this and headed onto the Van Wick Expressway after searching for sometime in the dark for our car. We then drove on towards the GW Bridge towards our home in NJ. It was sureal driving

with no street lighting. I remember crossing the GW and the lights were on only on the Jersey side of the bridge. My friend does not remember this so I don't no if I am recalling it correctly for sure. WE put a case of beer in a cooler and went to a small park alont the top of the Palisades in North Bergen that has a great view of Manhattan skyline and watched the city in darkness while listening to the news on tha radio. We were happy to be on the outside looking in.
